From A Different Perspective

From A Different Perspective
So the other morning, I was reading my bible, and I flipped over to the Book of Ruth. As I'm reading and processing the word, I was processing it in today's vernacular; and it was so good. It felt like I was reading some "juicy" chapters in a novel.

What got me, Boaz was trying to turn Ruth on to another mane!!! LOL, like- she did what Naomi told her to do; she put on the perfume, worked in the field, waited until after he was full and tipsy, and slid in and laid at his feet. And when he noticed she was there, which was around or after midnight he was shocked. He was like , “Whoa Queen, whatcha doing here?” And she provided the reason. Even with the reason, he really didn’t feel like he was the one. Then he was like, you know what, if who I have in mind doesn’t work out, I gotcha! I’ll marry you, I’ll take good care of you, because you’re fine, you’re a young girl, loyal, & you're family! And he sent her back, but not empty-handed. He provided her with instructions and some barley.

Me: (confused, LOL) But he still, was trying to give her to another mane?? But I kept reading.......

Hmmmm, this is juicy, LOL…..y'all just keep following me. Now Boaz, when he went to his fam, his delivery was so on point. It was as if he was pitching a sale….& his family was about to take the land, until he was like, but if you take the land, you know Ruth comes with it, right? Instead of his fam being like, "ok that's a bet!" Bruh was like, nah Fam, that means my children won’t inherit nothing! It's cool, you can go ahead and take the land and Ruth…"......and they sealed the deal in the company of the 10 witnesses Boaz brought.

What I realized in the story is the fact, Ruth really had wise counsel, and she was submitted to her mother-in-law, as well as held on to the instructions Boaz gave her. Also, Boaz showed integrity and honor. What I perceived, as I continued reading, Boaz wasn’t first in line. Instead of being greedy and taking the land and Ruth as his own, he showed character, integrity, and honor. After hearing Ruth convey the instruction Naomi had given, Boaz present this great deal to the one who was first, and allowed him to make his own decision!

Now y'all, let's be real. How many times have deals, things been presented to us, and we didn't consider those who were first or even more equipped? (not listening to wise counsel, etc.) Many times, there are deals presented to us, and instead of presenting the deal to another, we're so greedy to take on the assignment, task, in the name of what? What Boaz's family revealed, is his heart! Even though it was a great offer he had to count the cost, and consider those in his house (family/ children).

If there was anything that I learned from my time of reading it was, CHECK MY HEART, COUNT THE COST, and the IMPORTANCE OF WISE COUNSEL!

Well, enough of my bible chat! Y'all be blessed!
